The professorship of Analytical Chemistry (Prof. Strittmatter) I looking for a master student for a 6 month thesis project entitled “Development of small inhibitor-based protein stains for mass spectrometry imaging”. You will learn state-of-the-art imaging ambient and imaging technologies, especially Desorption Electrospray Ionisation on a Orbitrap mass spectrometer and get acquainted with molecular imaging technologies. The project will focus on the development of novel protein stains where we will aim to stain proteins with matching small molecule inhibitors instead of the commonly deployed antibodies. We will use PARP1 and EGFR as model systems.
You are our right candidate if you’re interested in biomedical applications of mass spectrometry, especially mass spectrometry imaging. We will work with tissue specimen, cryosectioning, classical histological tissue stains (H&E, IHC) as well as developing our own staining workflow. This is a high risk, high gain project that will require independent, creative thinking and a systematic way of working.
Please send your application including your CV, names and contact information for 2 references, and a transcript of records to: nicole.strittmatter[ät]tum.de
