In this project, we will synthesize and evaluate a novel class of small-molecule based ligands for targeted alpha therapy of prostate cancer.

Project Area: Targeted radioactive ligands hold great promise for treatment of advanced metastatic prostate cancer. In recent years, especially small molecules, labeled with alpha-emitting isotopes displayed a favorable treatment response in patients. However, also side effects are potentially higher, compared to standard therapy. In this project, we will synthesize and evaluate a novel class of small-molecule based ligands for targeted alpha therapy of prostate cancer.
• Synthesis of peptides by solid-phase peptide synthesis
• Synthesis of small organic molecules and conjugation
• Development and optimization of radiolabeling procedures, using Actinium-225 and Fluorine-18
• Evaluation of radiolabeled compounds using in vitro and ex vivo methods, e.g. on cells and tissue samples
• Positron emission tomography-based imaging in animal models
• Biodistribution studies in animal models
• You will work in an international group of scientists and clinicians (Postdocs and PhD students with a background in chemistry, biology, veterinarians, physicians and technical assistants) with an excellent infrastructure and a strong focus on translational research
• The salary will be according to TV-L E13 (65%)
• You will be a member of the graduate program at TUM and will be able to participate in workshops (scientific and soft skills), seminars and career-building programs
